All drugs were legal until 1914 when the Harrison Act was enacted. Until then no drug laws existed in the USA. The Harrison Act, however, included a "joker" provision for physicians...... "in the course of his professional practice only ." That "joker" provision was loosely interpreted by law enforcement which eventually led to the Controlled Substances Act which now rules everything we are allowed to drink, eat or consume as "free" Americans. And chances are, every single household in the USA has at least one of the "controlled substances" on their premises. So, the real joke is on us. Bottom line is that anyone can be arrested anytime for having "controlled substances" in their house and then have their house and all other possessions confiscated for violating the CSA. But the worst part of this is that it gives "carte blanche" to law enforcement and allows them to arrest you or anyone else anytime they feel like it and the onus is on you to prove you're innocent. Does anyone on this board know the difference between white lightening, yellow lightening, gray lightening or even blue lightening and know exactly the chemistry of each substance and the exact mind-altering qualities and what the prison sentence should be for each? If so, I want to hear from you.
Here is the Harrison Act and the list of controlled substances.
