Anyone who sees the stats in the above link be aware that rushing yards are net. They are the rushing yards when he takes off and runs but those are reduced by the losses suffered from being sacked. Rushing-wise he may not be Kevin OConnell but he is also not Ryan Lindley. He will be somewhere between the two.
Imagine if a year took a century to unfold and you were born in the dead of winter; the coming of summer would seem a frightening change, with temperatures rising dramatically and seemingly without limit.

So you mean he won't take off just to take off on step 4 and a half of a 5 step drop? Sounds good

Wow! All this info makes me think that Katz is going to give the Aztec offense a huge boost. Now, if the RBs can step up and the D holds its own, I'd say 8 or more wins this year is a very realistic goal.
There are videos of the games from his time at OSU on YouTube.
He's got a cannon for an arm, not at Lindley's level but close. He's got pretty good mobility. His accuracy isn't great but it's better than Lindley's Like has already been said, he's a great stop gap who should lead us to a successful year, while giving our young guys another year to develop.
I hope that's true about his accuracy, that's a key point. To go along with that, I'm anxious to see if he's clutch in critical situations. I've seen too many 3 and outs by Lindley in close games. We blamed the receivers, but it hasn't always been their fault.

With the wide recievers we have available this year I expect a big improvement in the passing game even if Katz isn't as good as Lindley. Brice Butler alone will open up our passing game tremendously.

I don't understand why so many think Katz is an upgrade over Lindley. Ryan started four years, led us to consecutive bowl games (with inexperienced receivers last season) and was drafted. Katz couldn't crack the starting line-up for a team that lost at home to Sacramento State. That said, he's our QB now, so I support him 100%.

Lindley was a great leader by all accounts & had a cannon attached to his right shoulder... but wasn't especially mobile or accurate. Katz is, by all accounts, better in both of those categories... which is sufficient to give me more than a little optimism.
And if you're talking about the passing game in general... then you factor in the pretty massive overall upgrade in the receiver corps.

Until Katz transferred, I was quite nervous about our QB situation. Not a lack of faith, but let's face it...our QB depth chart was young, green, and not particularly lauded. Another year to develop is great for them.
