I was at the game in Loge where we can also see a television. Any time NBC Sports Net showed a wide shot from above showing entire stadium the place looked empty. Sad.

I was watching it on TV, and even though there wasn't a huge crowd, it still got pretty loud, especially in the first half. It looked like there were a lot of students though, which is good to see.

Disappointing. Student turnout was very good though, even by first-home-game-of-the-year standards.
Next week should be a little worse. SJSU game hopefully will have a better turnout than tonight. If we win these next 3 games, Hawaii SkyShow game should bring about 50k.
SDSU really needs a 40,000 seat stadium. The Murph is just too Cavernous.
Agreed, it's not that we don't draw well. It's that we are in the wrong sized stadium.
If we had a 35-40k seat stadium on campus we'd have "The Show" that we get at basketball games.
We have ZERO home field advantage. Maybe it matters to the lower, lower tier teams we sometimes play that we're at the Chargers home... but lets not forget that the Q is a dump compared to most NFL stadiums.
One thing that would help would be to close off the upper areas. Push all 35k seats down and it'd fill in a lot more and feel more like a big game.

I would agree with you and laaztec that an on campus stadium would help with attendance and the appearance of being full. The Murph is too big for SDSU. However, I can't agree with your assessment about Aztecs not drawing well. They don't. An announced crowd of just over 30k means there were probably only 25k that came through the gate. That is not only disappointing for a home opener, it is on the verge of being embarrassing. Coming off back to back winning seasons, there should have been at least 40k at that game. I don't think the BE is going to be happy with 25k for home games. Just sayin'
