It is crazy that Aerick and Chris Walton were Fisher's first 2 recruits. Fisher's second ever recruit here was a fringe NBA player. Aerick was a beast his senior year.

That's great. I hope he can work his way up the ranks. His development between his sophomore and junior years was one of the best I've seen from an Aztec player. Hopefully his coaching career sees the same kind of rapid development.

Good for him. I ran into him in OB during the Chili Festival. He told me he was actively looking for a coaching gig. He got it.

In my opinion Aerick is the most improved player Fisher has had as an Aztec. He also holds the scoring record for a single game as an Aztec in Veigas. Tony Bland is second 1 point behind.

Big time clap on the back from me. I will miss him at our games. Aztecborracho would frequently spot him first and begin a "Aerick Sanders" chant until he laughed and pointed at us. ;D

Maybe I should have said 'over a four year period'. It just seemed that in every game I saw him play he was better than in the previous one.

Great to hear. Believe he was at La Jolla Prep for a while (any word how that school is doing getting quality players). Maybe we can look forward to seeing Montana St. here for a game.

Coach Hughes was a huge part of why our big men progressed so well early in the Fisher years.

Holcomb, Mackell, and Sanders were all so much better when they graduated here than when they started.

Itll be sad to see him leave us...but clearly, very happy for him. He was a fixture with the program and the current team, no matter what year it was. Whenever I saw the guys out at some clubs, or at restaraunts..I saw Aerick right there with em. Saw him at football games all the time too

I was at the game Al Faux scored 35 against Oklahoma State. Sanders and Bland topped it?

Too bad Sanders didn't redshirt his first year here. He barely played that year. If he had played one more season........................

The next year we went 11-18. He probably would have turned that team into an NIT team.

what a great story he was with how much he improved while he was here, from no time, to role player, to flat out star in the conference. He'll do great coaching one would think

Hey Tec - got a question: is "Viegas" Thomas and Mack? Or do you really mean, Viejas? You know, I'd really like to believe you, I really would, but I highly doubt Aerick has scored more points than any other Aztec either at home or at the Thomas and Mack - gotta see the proof on this one. ESPN's website only has individual game performances going back to '09.

Also, I love Aerick, but if you're referring to him when you say "Fisher's second ever recruit here was a fringe NBA player" then I think I have to disagree with you. I do agree, however, that he had a huge senior season (16+pts, 9+boards per game). He was nowhere near good enough to even play in the D-League unfortunately. A solid overseas player, no doubt, but not a "fringe" NBA player IMO.
