I will have season BB tickets this year!
« Thread Started on Jul 25, 2012, 1:25pm »

Just received a letter confirming my don't-forget-to-bring-your-oxygen-mask seats for the 2012-13 basketball season. The actual tickets and media guide will arrive later.

This is the first time I have had season tickets for basketball. I signed up to avoid not being able to get any tickets due to the season sell-out of Viejas.

I am up in the "oxygen tank" area and its not a bad area to sit. Good view of the court, but thats also the area where visiting teams go.

I had GA last year and I actually sat at the top of the benchs so I could lean back if i wanted to. The view is awesome IMO, its not like the nose bleeds at Thomas and Mack

We sit in row 27 and it is great. You also don't have to climb the steps.

We have season seats in the same spot...not complaining about those seats at all.

Had those the last 2 seasons. There are definite benefits to being up there that I will miss.

One of my faves... This may be TMI, but if you watch the clock for the timeouts every 4 minutes, you can time it so you miss no game action as you run to the restroom. Same thing goes for the food stands.

That's funny....there are no oxygen mask sections of Viejas. Have you tried the upper deck of Staples Arena? That is above the timberline. All seats are good in Viejas.

We are in row 35, which I think is the one you referenced. Yes, it's the next best thing to a regular chair back seat. I'm looking for some kind of clip on glasses that will serve as a magnifier with which to see the action better. I'm not sure that such a thing exists, but it would be nice it it did. One can use binoculars, of course, but that's kind of a pain, and, anyway, with binoculars your field of vision is limited.

I just checked the Internet. There are clip on magnifiers, but they have a very short focal length for closeup work. I need something with a focal length of about 75 feet.

Yeah we are in row 35 in section H.

I just got new glasses in my short time in the professional world my eyes have already been destroyed by a computer monitor.

Uh, well, yes. That's what "This is the first time I have had season tickets for basketball" means. :D

I've seen many games, of course, but always on a single game basis. The first time I attended a BB game at SDSU was in Peterson Gym when George Ziegenfuss was HC.

I checked the Internet and there are glasses such as I mentioned, but they are not cheap. Something like $180.00 a pair. Focal length from about 6' to infinity, so they would be great for watching BB from row 35 (section Q, by the way).

Oh, come on now, it's not that bad, is it? Viejas is s great place to watch a sporting event. Granted, you might not be able to see Chase's expression when he drains a 3, but you get a great view of the game from any row in the place.

15 years ago, when Viejas opened, I went to the open house just to see what the arena was like. I had no plan to buy season tickets because, let's face it, the Aztec were perpetually bad. When I got to the arena they were letting people pick out their season tickets. I was so blown away by the quality of the arena that I said to myself, this arena is going to bring in some great recruits and turn around this program. I made a split second decision to give this program a chance and to buy season tickets. 15 years later, I am blown away by the sellout crowds and the nationally recognized program that we have become. I still have the same seats that I purchased 15 years ago. I would say I got my seats at the right time, eh? What a ride this had been. It will only get better.
