Coaches hot seat rating out. Rocky Long= 2.5 « Thread Started on Jun 25, 2012, 2:05pm »
CBS put out their annual coaches hot seat rating poll. Rocky was rated a 2.5, which means, according to their table, "Safe, but you never know". I find that rating interesting.
"Because he's the hero SDSU deserves, but not the one it needs right now...and so we'll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he's not a hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector...a dark knight." -Commissioner Gordon on Rocky Long

No way does Rocky not have any more job security than Bobby Hauck and actually less than the doofus at NC State. Losing the N.O. Bowl and to Wyoming doesn't sit well but I'd put him at a 1.0 on their scale.

$#!+ Hoke had similar or worse losses and they're about to put the guy into the Hall of Fame.
SDSU fires football coaches only if attendance absolutely plummets.
Chuck Long got three years. With his next victory, Rocky will match Chuck's win total.

Dunno about Rocky, but he's way off on Army coach Rich Ellerson.
On the other side of the coin, Chris Petersen is a 0.5 and Mark Hudspeth is a 1.5. That's just absurd. Both coach's schools are paranoid as hell that somebody won't make those guys an offer they can't refuse. In Hudspeth's case, one more year like 2011 and that will occur this December.

sounds about right. if we don't get 8 wins this year, the seat will be warming up heading to the Big East. We can't only show up in the second half of games this year too, that was embarrassing.

yea, this is a horrific schedule. Losing 4 times at home last year sure didn't help build momentum, and this year there are again 7 home games and they are against abysmal teams - we need to beat up on this schedule

Be careful when reading this chart. The far right number is the rating from 2011, not 2012. The 2012 number is the second to the right.

Damn. Thanks for not calling me dumb, but is this like the Torah so you read things from right to left? Or is the author dyslexic? And how was Rich Rod given a rating of .05 in 2011 when he wasn't even coaching?
You know, there are some alleged experts out there who couldn't have passed the basis stats class I took at SDSU.

Air Force has it's usual marshmallow schedule. How they get away with it year after year with almost now one noticing is beyond me. Of course they win lots of games.

I'm not sure they are all "abysmal" (at least Steele doesn't seem to think so). And, anyway, if it's wins you want and not necessary butts in seats you want to play the weaker teams at home. If you're going to lose you want to lose road games. So, what do you want, wins or butts? You can't necessarily have both.

If we don't win eight games against this DIAA schedule, I hope the seat is empty.
Ball State should have fired Hoke for taking so long.

AFA basically plays the same schedule year after year. They start out with a D-1AA then a good team from a BCS conference and then Army and Navy later in the season for the CIC trophy to round out the OOC. This year they play at Michigan. How is that marshmallow?

Both.
It's not win or butts, it's both, always will be here. There is no chicken or the egg there is chickens popping out eggs.
This schedule is pathetic, it is the 8th easiest in the country based on last year's win/loss record and we aren't even playing mf'n New Mexico. Steele just picks every 4-5 win team, picks them to go to a bowl and some of them do manage to win 6 games, well, half the teams go to bowls, so he's not exactly a seer
