Sadly, Kawhi will not be playing in the finals. The Spurs are done! It was great seeing him grow as a player with the Spurs. Definitely some proud moments for us Aztec fans. Note: LeBron will not get his championship this year. The Thunder have too many weapons and great inside defenders. Harden was the x-factor. He killed the Spurs tonight.

Disagree , SPurs are far from done...no easy task going to okc to win but if they do then home court switches back and all the pressure will be on OKC.

I wish you were right. OKC has almost completely taken Parker out of the game. If not for the heroics of Ginobili, who tired at the end, the Spurs would have lost by 20. The Spurs offense has been corralled by these guys. OKC has three guys who are almost unstoppable when they want to score in Durant, Westbrook and the bearded one. Kawhi played as good a defense as he can play and Harden still buried the dagger 3 at the end. The team under stress last night was the Spurs. Who is the answer for the Spurs in OKC? Ginobili can't do it by himself.

You are sounding like the typical San Diego sports fan, not an AztecMesa SDSU fan.

I will be the first to admit I am no expert when it comes to coaching hoops so I could be totally off base. But it appears to me that the problem with the Spurs is Pop. I know he is a great (soon to be HOF) coach but sometimes it looks like he over coaches. In other words, it seems to me that everyone on the team, besides the big 3, look to be walking on egg shells. They are afraid to play with abandon because if they make a mistake or simply miss two shots in a row they are removed from the game.
It seems that when the game is going poorly for the Spurs, Pop will just sub randomly looking for somebody to get hot. Perfect example is that Danny Green started most of the year and the last two games has played far fewer minutes. It changed because he had a poor shooting game a couple of games back and got pulled. Last night he came in for a few moments and looked very apprehensive, lacked the confidence he had all year, made some dumb mistakes and was removed never to see the floor again. Similar thing happened to Bonner, played a great deal during the regular season but has played very little the last few games.
Maybe it's match-up issues or that OKC is just that good but if guys are playing scared they rarely play well. To me even Kawhi looks apprehensive on offense. All of them are thinking better not make a mistake - which is not the way to be successful.
As I said at the beginning, I realize I know very little about how to coach so I may be totally off base - just mentioning how things appear to me. All that said, the Spurs did win the first two games of this series so they can win the last two. It doesn't look good for them but if they get some confidence back and hit some key shots, they could win game 6 and get the series tied.

Spurs win 20 in a row= OMG they are the greatest team ever. They lose three in a row=Pop is doing everything wrong.

OKC is that good. Pops is doing everything he can, such as starting Ginobili last night. Green and Bonner didn't just disappear, OKC made them disappear. Parker and Ginobili played their hearts our last night....but these are older guys. Ginobili couldn't miss for a while, but the minutes and the pressure to be the only guy scoring overwhelmed him. Durant, Westbrook and Harden can play 40 minutes and their shots will still be falling in the last minute. OKC just has too much for the Spurs. OKC lost the first 2 games because Westbrook dribbled the clock down and was going one on one a lot. He's not scoring much now, but they are winning because the ball is moving. OKC has more talent and youth on their side. The "lack of confidence" for the Spurs is because the open looks they were getting in previous series are not there now.

Sometimes the other team just plays better.
I am not sure if you are responding to me but since you did quote what I wrote I guess you are... I really didn't say what you implied that I said. But that's fine, I'm no expert...

I think OKC realized they needed to play more "team ball," the Spurs were basically showing them how to do it with all the passing and pick and rolls. But also, OKC figured out how to keep Parker out of the paint more, which was creating easy shots for Parker and his teammates.
Pop used to pretty much always play the B team in the second quarter and first part of the 4th quarter. It worked well, particularly with Ginobili on that squad. But the B team does not do as well with Green and I think the first teamers are not getting enough rest.

Not you directly, but your post made me think of it.

Good post by Stopthemadness...I didn't watch one NBA game all year, however, I have tuned into a few of the Spurs games....IMO, they are starting to look very tired and are showing their age. OKC has incredible talent and are finally playing as a team and I am afraid it will be a blow out back in the Sooner state.
