Ok, so you look at the glass as half empty, and we did not have a winning team the last two seasons of Faulk's career. I am only speaking of the good things that happened, and right now that is all that matters!
The truth is, Marshall was THE only good thing that happened in those days. The sad part is that all of our good memories revolve around him only, and not the programs.
The 80's had a blip or two, but the 90's was truly a lost decade for Aztec sports.

aztech> are you forgetting RB George Jones who broke Faulk's single season rushing record with 1,842 yds.? (in 1995) Or, what about Billy Blanton the highest rated Aztec QB in passing efficiency (157.1 alltime)?
He also was the QB of two very good winning Aztec teams in '95-'96 even though they didn't get a bowl invite. But, he beat Cal & OKla., Nev.,& Hawaii.
How about two great Aztec receivers, Darnay Scott (leader '92-'93), and Will Blackwell (leader '95-'96)?
Or, the 1998 team? The last one in the 'ol WAC which won the Pacific division, and played NC in the Vegas Bowl. Even though they lost the game that Aztec team had a defense which no team prior to that had ever known. Most conference teams were lucky to be able to get 2 touchdowns on us, if that. They played tuff.
So, is that the lost decade you were speaking about?

Imagine if a year took a century to unfold and you were born in the dead of winter; the coming of summer would seem a frightening change, with temperatures rising dramatically and seemingly without limit.
Let's not forget #10 ranked Aztecs Men's golf. This group has a legitimate shot at bringing home the National Championship - which, by the way, will be played right up the coast at Riviera Country Club.
What are the tailgaters like at the Rivera Country Club? How early do you got to get there a good spot and fire up the BBQ to throw down some brats? I love me some golf, between the great action you can watch the grass grow which is just as equally exciting.
“They know we’re gonna play hard to the end. They know we’re gonna be tough guys, we’re gonna run the ball, we’re gonna play-action pass, we’re gonna get after your ass on defense and we’ll see how the score comes out.” - Rocky Long, 2011

You can spend most of the time skiing in Mammoth. Their early year lack of snow is being made up in spades in April. They had another 34 inches last Thursday and Friday.
