At least according to Winston Shepard. New ASR article. Won't copy and paste (obviously) but basically he said he wanted to comment about it not effecting his decision before he made it but didn't want to leak his choice. He says that if you are good enough you can go pro from any school, system matters more.

Winston is a rare bird. He isnt like other college players. His values are different. I really cant think way to describe him. maybe mature beyond his years. To use his committment to prove or dis prove that BW will hurt recruiting seems flawed. Especially since we arent in the BW.

That dude Mark's credibility went from bad to worse. Glad he tucked tail and left our board, he can continue disseminating his faulty information to the Lobo fans.

We are still in a powerful conference (MWC) and are coming off of 4 very strong years with fan interest at its peak. Winston may only play 1-2 years so may not see much of the BW. Like everyone, I hope that the BW will not kill recruiting. When we are 2-3 years into the BW and Fisher is retired or about to retire, we will all know the impact of recruiting from the BW move. Right now it is too early to tell. I am glad we got past the first recruiting test (i.e. immediately after the BW announcement).

It's been 5 months since the announcement. Nobody will know if it will affect recruiting, attendance, or national credibility until the team is actually in the Big West.

I agree with his statements though, but that's a rare breed. A lot of these top recruits LOVE the spotlight.

I am not why their is so much negativity about the BW before we even know? Perception goes along way in recruiting...we might make this a self-fullfilling prophacy if not careful.
