They explain UW on the premise that the committee will reward the regular season champ of a "Major" (their quotes...) conference. The implication is that getting the 2nd bid for the Pac 12 would be essentially a sop as a courtesy to said "Major conference".
I agree they probably don't deserve a second bid, but they'll probably get one anyhow.

5 seed means we're 20 or better on the S-curve. I highly doubt we are better than 20 on the S-curve. So we're probably locked into a 6.

After our game, Lunardi wrote that we will switch spots with UNM. Either 5-6 or 6-7, I forgot which.

Interesting. Oddly, he had us and UNM as a 7 already. His was the lowest of predictions. He had UNLV as a 6.

As of this moment, it is still the same. Here is his live page that should be updated today.

I'm calling a 6 seed against BYU 11 seed in the first round. I'd be nervous as hell during that game.

I'm salivating over the possibility of crushing UVA. And James Johnson taunting them. And me taunting all my friends.

I think it'd be fun to see MWC have three 6 seeds and an 11 in CSU.

It looks entirely possible like the Pac 12 is a 1 seed league. I can understand if Cal gets in, their record is better than they are. If Oregon gets in than you know a certain alumni exerted some influence on the committee.

Looks like a #7 seed: http://bracketproject.50webs.com/matrix.htm

#7 seed in Louisville (Lunardi: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/bracketology)
#6 seed in Columbus (Jerky Palm: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/bracketology)
#7 seed in Columbus (Bracketville: http://bracketville.wordpress.com/bracketology/)

Yeah, I heard that the regular season champ from a "major" conference has NEVER failed to make the NCAA tourney. This may be the first...

The more I think about this, the more I think UW should be in. The Pac 12 may be down compared to previous years, but it's not a horrible conference. SDSU nearly lost at home to Cal (and USC!) so there's not some huge quality gap.

The problem is there's not one great team, like there is in the SEC, to prop up the rest of the conference. There are about 6 or 7 teams who are all very similar. I still think if you win the regular season championship it should be worth something. I'm betting they get in unless St. Bonnies wins this morning...

I completely disagree. While MOV is important, sample size is too small to make your argument.

The bottom of the Pac-12 is reprehensible, the middle very mediocre, and the top not bubble-worthy.

In all reality, the Pac-12 should be a one-bid conference in a year where the bubble isn't so weak. Conferences like the MW and MVC are stronger top-to-middle (and probably bottom) than the Pac-12, and a conference like Conference USA has stronger top teams and a similar middle-gut.

Si.com has us as a 5 Cbssports.com has us as a 6. Espn.com has us as a 7. I say no worse than a 6 with outside shot at 5.

It's all about matchups now. I will take a 9 seed if it means a more favorable matchup!

Right point, but as a technicality, 8 or 9 = AWFUL matchup. Winning one game at this point isn't what we want.

A 6 seed gives us the best chance of going to the Sweet 16.

I think we will get a 7. UNM will get a 6 or a 7. Lets hope we get a favorable matchup in a winable bracket.
